SLO | Če ne bi pred leti spremljala toliko britanskih Youtuberjev, verjetno sploh ne bi šla za tem, da Brighton obstaja. V njihovih vlogih se je ta kraj vedno zdel popoln za vikend izlet in zato sem si ga želela nekoč obiskati tudi sama. Malo več kot leto dni bo že minilo od kar sva s prijateljico obiskali London in takrat se je ponudila odlična priložnost, da za en dan zapustiva mestni vrvež in odrineva na oddih proti morju. Nekega poznega dopoldneva v maju se je najina pot začela na železniški postaji Clapham Junction v Londonu in po kakšni uri vožnje sva prispeli na železniško postajo v Brightonu.

ENG | If I haven't followed a lot of British Youtubers a few years ago, I probably wouldn't know that Brighton even exists. In their vlogs, Brighton was a perfect spot for a weekend getaway, so I wanted to visit it one day. It's been over a year ago since my friend and I visited London and then was a perfect opportunity to leave the big city for a day and have a little trip to the seaside. Our journey started one late sunny morning in May at the Clapham Junction train station in London and after an hour's drive, we arrived in Brighton.

1. PAVILION GARDENS

SLO | Če pogledaš na zemljevid Brightona lahko opaziš, da je mesto obdano z veliko zelenja. Številne parke in vrtove pa lahko obiščeš tudi med samim sprehodu po mestu. Naju je pot iz železniške postaje vodila do Pavilion Gardens, kjer lahko obiščeš muzej in umetniško galerijo, kulturni center - Brighton Dome ter Kraljevi pavilijon, ki je bil nekoč obmorska kraljeva rezidenca, danes pa ena izmed turističnih atrakcij.

ENG | Looking at the map of Brighton, you can see that the city is surrounded by a lot of green areas. But you can visit many parks and gardens during the walk around the city too. Our first stop was Pavilion Gardens, where you can visit a museum, art gallery, cultural center - Brighton Dome and Royal Pavilion, once a coastal royal residence, today one of the tourist attractions.

2. BRIGHTON PALACE PIER

SLO | Ena izmed lokacij, ki je zagotovo ne moreš spregledati in izpustiti je Brighton Pier. V uporabi je že od leta 1899 in je danes ena glavnih atrakcij v mestu. Na njem najdeš vse od restavracij in okrepčevalnic do vrtiljakov in igralnih avtomatov. Mene pa je najbolj očaral razgled na Brighton in njegov obalni pas.

ENG | One of the attractions you can't overlook and miss is the Brighton Pier. It's been is use since 1899 and is today one of the main attractions in the city. There you can find everything from restaurants and snack bars, to carousels and slots. But I was most impressed by the view over Brighton and its coast.

3. OBALNI PAS / THE COASTAL AREA

SLO | Ko sva zaključili z ogledom pomola, sva pot nadaljevali ob plaži proti zahodu. Sprehodili sva se mimo ogromnega bakrenega 'krofa', številnih luštnih art trgovinic, ribiškega muzeja in na koncu pristali pri barvnih hišicah ob plaži, ki se jih lahko najame (tudi kupi) in ti nudijo zavetje, ko preživljaš tople poletne dni na plaži. Super!

ENG | After we finished with a pier, our journey continued along the beach to the west. We walked passed the huge copper 'donut', many cute art shops, a fisherman's museum and finally arrived in front of a line of colorful beach houses that can be rented (you can buy one too) and they offer you a shelter when you spend these hot summer days at the beach. How cool is that!?

4. BRITISH AIRWAYS i360

SLO | Med sprehodom po obali ne moreš spregledati 162m visokega stolpa, ki vizualno deluje bolj kot kakšen tujek v prostoru. Sicer je pa to razgledni stolp, ki ponuja čudovit razgled nad Brighton in celotni obalni pas.

ENG | While walking down the coast, you can't overlook a 162m high tower, which visually doesn't really belong to the surrounding area. Otherwise, this is an observation tower, offering a wonderful view over Brighton and the entire coast.

5. THE LANES

SLO | Med potjo nazaj proti železniški postaji, sva malo zavili iz glavne ulice in se kar naenkrat znašli v malce drugačnem svetu. Ozke uličice polne majhnih trgovinic, ki so bile okrašene z barvnimi zastavicami. Ne vem ali so te zastavice vedno tam, ali so bile zato, ker je ravno potekal Brighton Festival.

ENG | On the way back to the train station, we left the main street for a moment and suddenly found ourselves in a different world. Narrow streets - lanes full of small shops were decorated with colorful flag garlands. I'm not sure if this is a permanent decoration or they were there because of the Brighton Festival.

SLO | Seveda se v mestu nahajajo še številne druge zanimivosti, ampak ker je bil najin čas omejen in sva si želeli obiskati predvsem obalni del, sem tukaj zajela le tiste, ki sva jih videli na poti.
